ECHNA

Where friendships flourish, and neighborhoods bloom

At ECHNA, we believe that community is built through shared interests and meaningful connections. Our members enjoy a variety of events and social gatherings, some of which are open to non-members.

Outside of our regular schedule of events, members often get together based around hobbies or simply to catch up for a coffee and chat.  If you are new to the area, you will find Elizabeth City a vibrant and growing community that welcomes visitors and newcomers with open arms.

Restoration Workshops

We offer engaging workshops year-round on preserving and restoring historic homes!

Along with expert guest speakers, our members—many of whom have tackled their own renovations—love sharing tips and advice to help others with their DIY projects.

Now in it's 26th year, Ghost Walk has become a much-anticipated event that attracts visitors from near and far.

Unlike other Historic Ghost Walks, visitors actually enter the historic homes and buildings featured.

If you enjoy eco-friendly, sustainable living and appreciate the wisdom of the past, connect with others to share tips and learning skills that have stood the test of time.

Whether you’re interested in canning, traditional soap-making or raising chickens. Enjoy connecting over a cup of freshly brewed tea!

   Guest Speakers

Along with guest speakers, many members have hands-on experience restoring their homes and are happy to share practical advice, creative solutions, and trusted contractor referrals.

Because let’s face it—finding a reliable pro can feel like a gamble, and no one wants to roll the dice on a shady contractor! Their recommendations can save you hours of research and help you avoid costly mistakes.

Community Partners

We love collaborating with local businesses and organizations, who like us, share the vision of seeing Elizabeth City’s Historic District continue to grow into its full potential.

Let’s connect and find ways to support each other’s growth and make a lasting impact in our community!

Social Events

ECHNA brings members together with fun annual events!  Whether you're celebrating at our Holiday Party, enjoying a Summer BBQ, or joining the Potato Peeling Team at the Potato Festival, there’s always something to look forward to.

We also take trips to nearby historical sites and explore local attractions, making it easy to connect beyond our regular meetings.

Fundraisers

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, especially through our annual Historic Ghost Walk, we’re able to offer grants that help residents restore their historic homes and preserve buildings that might otherwise be lost.

Every donation, membership, and fundraising event helps keep our mission alive.
